The Food As Medicine Market (FAMM) opened on Monday, February 14, 2022. Our location is 618 Orange Street Lane, Macon.
FAMM is a specialized Food Panty in conjunction with the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. Anybody in need of food assistance can come to FAMM for free USDA, GNAP and Locally Donated Food, assuming they meet the eligibility requirements for food assistance.
In addition to being a specialized Food Pantry, FAMM will also provide nutrition education to patients related to their diagnosis. The first two diagnoses our nurses will address are Congestive Heart Failure and Diabetes. Should you know of anyone has diagnoses of Congestive Heart Failure and/or Diabetes please refer them to FAMM for nutrition education related to their diagnosis and free food, assuming they meet the eligibility requirements for food assistance. Patients can be referred by their doctor or clinic, or they can self-refer.
