Position Available: Entry-Level Accountant- Financial Services
Twiggs County is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our finance team as an Entry-Level Accountant – Financial Services. This position provides essential support for the County’s financial operations and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their accounting career in a government environment.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Recording and processing financial transactions related to County operations
• Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures
• Reconciling bank statements, accounts, and internal ledgers
• Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Assisting with preparation and monitoring of the County budget
• Supporting financial reporting and audit preparation
• Assisting with preparation of financial statements and regulato1y reports
• Managing grant funds and ensuring expenditures are properly accounted for
• Preparing and submitting grant reports in accordance with grant requirements and reporting standards
• Analyzing financial data to identify discrepancies and variances
• Maintaining organized financial records and documentation
• Collaborating with internal departments to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
• Providing administrative support and assisting with special projects and process improvements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• High school diploma with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience may be considered
• Government accounting experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software preferred
