Area Agency on Aging

The Middle Georgia Regional Commission is the state-designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Middle Georgia.  The primary role of the AAA is to plan, develop and administer a comprehensive service delivery system for older adults and people with disabilities.

Established under the Older Americans Act, the AAA provides a range of options that allow older individuals and people with disabilities to choose home and community-based services and living arrangements that are best for them. The foundation for what we do here at the Middle Georgia Area Agency on Aging  is to promote independent, dignified lifestyles and access to services for those we serve.

The “ADRC,” the AAA’s single point of entry, provides a “one call connection” to aging and disability resources. Skilled intake and screening specialists conduct screenings for programs and services offered in the 11 counties of the Middle Georgia service area. Eligible clients are placed on a waiting list until funding levels permit entry into service. Call 1-866-552-4464 and select Option 2.

Aging Services at a Glance…

The Georgia Area Agencies on Aging maintain an extensive database of services of interest to seniors and persons with disabilities.

Elder Rights and Advocacy protects the rights of older adults through programs such as Elder Legal Services and to advocate for additional service options for older adults. For more information, call 1-866-552-4464 and select option 2.

Care Giver Support providing an evidence-based information and coaching service delivered by telephone which empowers people to understand options, manage care, and make decisions more effectively.

Support Options providing community dwelling consumers to actively participate in managing their own services within an established budget, so they may remain in their home for as long as possible.

Material Aid (Assistive Technology and Caregiver Incontinence Closet) providing limited assistance with the provision of assistive technology devices and incontinence supplies for individuals and caregivers.
