On September 10, 2009 the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG) provided training to the governing Council of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission.  DCA Commissioner Mike Beatty and his staff provided an overview of the recent transition from regional development center to regional commission to Council members and Commission staff.  Walt McBride, a certified local government training instructor at CVIOG outlined key roles and responsiblities for the Commission and its leadership.
